One day a woman interrupted the famous American evangelist, Brother R. W. Shambach, while he was preaching, “Man of God, I’ve never interrupted a preacher before”, She said. “I have had to interrupt you, because in the next 30 minutes my son will die in an electric chair, if God does not intervene”. This woman’s son was falsely accused of murder, tried and convicted. But according to the woman, her instincts as a mother told her that her son did not commit the crime. This was more so when the boy had personally told her so, out of the courtroom.
The situation was dicey. By the time she’d finished narrating her story, in full view of the audience; ten more minutes had ticked by. Now it was twenty minutes or so to go. Shambach began to speak in tongues. He prayed in the spirit for a while, then he began to shout, “Holy Ghost arrest him”.The meeting ended at that point with the man of God assuring the woman that God had intervened. Everybody went home. The following day, Shambach was eating breakfast and glancing through the morning papers, when he came upon this headline in one of the morning papers “Man saved from electric chair”.He jumped up in jubilation. He just couldn’t contain his excitement. But how did it happen?
The Holy Ghost obviously did what He was asked to do. A few minutes before the execution of the death sentence, the man that actually committed the crime came under a tremendous conviction to confess and save the innocent man. He was staying in another town, but this did not deter him. He picked up the telephone and called the Judge that handled the case, made his confession and arranged for the police to pick him up where he was.
God is faithful. It is never too late for Him to act. You can trust Him. The Psalmist says, “He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; He burneth the chariot in the fire” (Psalm 46:9).He will make your own war to cease also. He will break the weapons of your enemies. Therefore, be still and trust Him. There is a pearl concealed in the pain you have passed through. There is recognition and glory awaiting you. Don’t give up!
