The children of Israel were captives in Babylon. But some of them, including Ezekiel refused to allow their spirits to be taken captive. You may be in one physical captivity or the other. Your health may be down, your finances in shambles and your family in crisis. But you can determine not to allow your spirit to be a captive of Satan and his demons.
Like Ezekiel at the River Chebar, you can enter into the altar of your bathroom, under the overflowing grace in your shower to receive the miracle of open heavens. What you need is “a fresh vision of God’s majesty”, a revelation of His sovereignty over your situation and faith in His capacity to help you overcome your negative circumstances. Ezekiel was among the captives when the heavens were opened for him to see the visions of God. King Jehoiachin and his fellow countrymen were in captivity on all fronts, but Ezekiel’s spirit was free to see the visions of God. Others were by the river with him, but only Ezekiel experienced the miracle of open heavens.
The same bathroom others enter and come out without any special encounters will be the place of your open heavens. The Word of the Lord will come to you expressly in the bathroom. The hand of the Lord will be upon you there for good. Ezekiel was in the place of captivity but saw heavenly creatures, including the throne of God. “And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it. And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about. As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake” (Ezekiel l:26-28).
The vision of the throne of God and the rainbow around the throne were a prophetic assurance that God will preserve and eventually deliver His people from captivity. Let the altar in your bathroom become the place of divine reassurance. Ask God for the grace to see there what others cannot see. Believe God to show you “the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord” in the bathroom even in your moment of captivity.
