A birthday should never be a time of bemoaning your failures, just as it should not be a season of unholy festivities.
While some people have used their birthdays to indulge themselves in unholy passions, others have used such strategic occasions to indulge in morose brooding. This was the case with Job in his season of tribulation. In Job 3:1-26, the man who until now was described by God as blameless and upright “… one that feared God and shunned evil” cursed the day he was born. “After this opened Job his mouth, and cursed his day. And Job spake, and said, Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived. Let that day be darkness; let not God regard it from above, neither let the light shine upon it. Let darkness and the shadow of death stain it; let a cloud dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it. As for that night, let darkness seize upon it; let it not be joined unto the days of the year, let it not come into the number of the months. Lo, let that night be solitary, let no joyful voice come therein. Let them curse it that curse the day, who are ready to raise up their mourning. Let the stars of the twilight thereof be dark; let it look for light, but have none; neither let it see the dawning of the day: Because it shut not up the doors of my mother’s womb, nor hid sorrow from mine eyes. Why died I not from the womb? Why did I not give up the Ghost when I came out of the belly?” (Job 3:1-11).
To possess the gates of your birthday, reverse the Words of Job in the way exemplified below. Open your mouth to:
- Bless the day you were born.
- Declare that the day will be established when you were conceived.
- Pray that your birthday will be full of light, and that the cloud of darkness will never settle over it.
- Declare that darkness will never be able to seize it, and that it will be significant among the days of the year.
- Pray that your birthday will never be barren, and that a joyful shout will come into it.
- Declare that the star of its morning will shine brighter and brighter, and that sorrows will be hidden from your eyes.
- Declare, unlike Job in Job 3:28 that you will always be at ease, quiet and at rest because this is a special day. Therefore, unnecessary trouble will never come near you.
The same principles of prophetic proclamations and prayer should apply in any attempt to possess the other days of personal covenant remembrance. The day of your spiritual birthday should be a time of blessing God for saving you. It should be a day for reviewing your mandate and ministry. It should be a day of repentance and restitution for failure to fulfil the purpose for which God saved you. Each day of personal covenant remembrance should be a time of evaluation. It should be a time of setting new goals and laying the foundations for progressive fulfilment of the visions and dreams that define your life. All these must be done in line with the prophetic agenda for 2019.
