CONTENDING WITH INTELLECTUAL IDOLATRY AND MORAL DECAY

Intellectual Idolatry is the handiwork of perverted minds. It is the source of the moral decay we see in society today. It provides the worldview for challenging the existence and relevance of the transcendental God of Creation. It encourages a value-free culture upon which individuals believe that morality is a nebulous concept without any relevance in contemporary society.

For this reason, we should not be more concerned with saving the souls of men without concern for their minds. Fortunately, the scriptures enjoin us to love the Lord with all our heart, soul and mind. We are also commanded to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. The reason is obvious. The greatest forces shaping the world today are the intellectual products of perverted minds whose worldviews are anti-Christian. Without a thorough understanding of the philosophical foundations of these perverted minds and the ideas they generate, there is no way we can counter their worldview. Without the mind dimension of the love of God, we cannot fully appreciate the intellectual foundation of the Christian worldview.
