YOUR HONEYMOON CAN LAST FOREVER

Marriage is a relationship based on love.  The honeymoon is believed to be the most exciting time of expressing this love.  It is a time of freshness, discovery and romantic euphoria.  It is a unique time when the couple explore each other in every ramification of the word. Most young lovers look forward with  anticipation to this romantic interlude between the wedding ceremony and the dull routine of  everyday life when the marriage settles into predictable traditional patterns.

In the eyes of man, there is a duration for the  honeymoon. This duration, however, is conceived of differently from place to place.  In the Western culture, the honeymoon is “the first month more or less after marriage.” To others, it is a holiday spent by a newly married couple in travelling and visiting.

The Jews in Old Testament times regarded the honeymoon as a Sabbatical given to husbands to    enjoy and make their new wives happy.  Newlyweds even had the tacit backing of the law to stay back and enjoy themselves: “When a man has taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war or be charged with any business; he shall be free at home one year and bring happiness to his wife whom he has taken” (Deuteronomy  24:5).

Honeymoons are supposed to be special moments of undisturbed romance.  But they are not always so for many people.  Their honeymoons have been ruined, or almost ruined, by unforeseen  circumstances.
