If the Word of the Lord came to pass in time of trouble and Jeremiah’s prophecies were fulfilled, there is no doubt that the Anathoth season is a time of answered prayers. It is interesting to note that the word “Anathoth” means “answered prayer”.
No prayer can be answered unless it is first conceived and prayed. Many people in prison become so despondent that they lose heart. Some give up on God and on themselves. Others become bitter and grumble about being abandoned by all and sundry. This was not the attitude of Jeremiah. He was in prison and yet he prayed and made investments. Follow Jeremiah’s example. Don’t give up even in your worse moment of imprisonment because of situations or circumstances engineered by wicked men. The dark night of pain does not last forever. There is a day break in the horizon somewhere.
Jeremiah came out of prison under circumstances that are mysterious. Nebuchadnezzar who should have killed him, gave instructions for him to be released. “Now Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon gave charge concerning Jeremiah to Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, saying, Take him and look after him, and do him no harm; but do to him just as he says to you. So Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard sent Nebushasban, Rabsaris, Nergal-Sharezer, Rabmag, and all the king of Babylon’s chief officers; then they sent someone to take Jeremiah from the court of the prison, and committed him to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, that he should take him home. So he dwelt among the people” (Jeremiah 39:11-14). You too will come out of prison. You will dwell among the people. This is your Anathoth season of answered prayers. So go ahead and pray to the God who answers prayer.
