You can be single, sanctified and successful.  You don’t have to go through life acting as if you are a damned fool. Singlehood is not synonymous with stupidity. Singles can, in fact, be role models for all, both single and married. They can be epitomes of purity and power, not just victims of manipulation, domination and control.

The grace to be single and successful lies in the power of purpose.  There is a “garden” for every single person to tend and to keep.  This “garden” is symbolic of individual life assignments, the reason for which they were created, the purpose for being.  Discovery of purpose is vital to successful living.  Inability to discover purpose is partly responsible for irresponsible actions.

To discover your purpose, focus on the positive things that you are passionate about.  Take close look at the areas of your life that show you have skills in some specific field of human endeavour.  Use your skills to put a smile on someone’s face.  Above all, turn every mess in your life into a message.  Don’t just throw your mess away, turn it around.

A man picked up a prostitute to mess up with in a hotel room.  As he drove with her to the hotel he realized, looking at her closely, that she was as young and beautiful as his own first daughter.  He was convicted in his heart and stopped his car on the road.  He asked the little girl why she was involved in prostitution.  She told him that she was an orphan and had five brothers and sister to take care of.

The girl’s predicament inspired an even deeper compassion in the man’s heart.  He enquired whether she would stop the business of prostitution if he sent her to train in a profession.  Upon a positive response from her, the man sent her to the United Kingdom to train as a nurse.  He paid all the fees needed to sustain her and even gave her enough money to take care of her five brothers and sisters while she was gone.

The man eventually became a committed Christian and began to enquire from God on the purpose for his life.  God commissioned him to reach out to prostitutes.  Who was better equipped to do this ministry than a man experienced in the use of prostitutes?

The man began a ministry to prostitutes which grew to the point where he needed partners.  He would go out to hotels and street corners to win the prostitutes.  He brought them to a rehabilitation centre where he discipled and empowered them to start a new life.  As he prayed about partners who could join him in the ministry, God reminded him of the little girl he sent to train as a nurse in UK.  She was back home and married with children.  He sent for her and her husband and they became his partners in the ministry of reaching out to prostitutes. Their mess became their message.

Only those who have needed comfort can truly comfort others.  Identify the areas in your life that represent a mess.  Turn that mess into a message of hope and healing.
